Stress/Patient Experience Barts Health NHS Trust

Barts Health NHS Trust* needed a solution –to reduce high stress levels on three clinical wards and one reception area. This was the first trial of the HeartMath Revitalizing Care Program in the UK.

Client Goals:

  • Reduce personal stress for staff in the midst of vast organizational change
  • Assist staff in building personal resilience, thereby increasing compassionate care and enhancing the overall patient experience

Key Results:

  • Statistically Significant improvements in Stress Related and Resilience Measures:
    • Fatigue, Resentfulness, Stress Symptoms, Calmness: (p < .001)
    • Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, Gratitude: (p < .01)

The completion of the pilot project clearly demonstrated both a direct benefit for staff and the transferability of the HeartMath Revitalizing Care program to the UK health provider context.
